Nico Giani is a project conceived by the designer Niccolò Giannini through an intense path that saw him train in Florence, Paris and San Francisco. This talented designer graduated in pattern making at the Polimoda institute in Florence, later developed his skills with a graduate course in stylisme de mode at the Studio Berçot in Paris, and finished with a Masters’ degree in Fashion Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Eclecticism, curiosity and passion are the ingredients used for what is today becoming the Nico Giani world: hard-edged shapes and colors taken from 1970s and 1980s design and all wrapped in a surrealism and reverie a la Miles Aldridge. Nico Giani aims to create a maximalist aesthetic guided by Memphis’ design. Claire Bingham, author of More is More, asserts that the Maximalist design is on the rise. "This is a design that goes beyond the comfort zone. It makes you smile.” Nico Giani belongs to the past and to the future, creating products which are familiar yet at the same time new and fresh. This is the strength of the brand. It appeals to the innate nostalgia that exists within all of us for elements of the past, whilst simultaneously igniting our desire for something entirely original. We recognise the form but we see it a way that we never have done before. Nico Giani believes that it is possible to create a new aesthetic code by redistributing and regenerating elements of the past with a new, radical perspective. On 13th June 2016, Nico Giani was presented to the fashion world in Riccardo Grassi’s showroom which launched its S/S 2017 campaign. Nico Giani is part of Artiminori Production Srl, a company specialised in prototyping and producing leather accessories since 2012. The company is based in Florence in one of the most well-known leather production districts. The designer is also flanked by a young, ambitious and united team who support and develop the creative side, making Nico Giani an emerging and constantly evolving brand. Niccolò Giannini has won the prestigious award “Who Is On Next?” 2017 by Altaroma in collaboration with Vogue Italia, that promotes young creative talents on the national and international fashion scene. Selected by an incredible judging panel including the likes of Godfrey Deeny, Suzy Menkes, Simonetta Gianfelici, Emanuele Farneti, Sara Sozzani Maino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Nico Giani brand was selected as the winner of the accessories category for Who is on Next? in Rome, for Nico’s across-the board research encompassing art and interior design through a rigorous and functional project.
